Last night I had the spinnaker wrap from hell.  I tried everything including jibing which cost me a knock on the head and a small cut.  I never lost consciousness but it certainly got my attention.  This morning I went up the forestay and removed the mess and am now sailing a

From the Friday morning checkin - relayed by Bravo to Avalon on 8110 after the fleet checked in on 4024 (too far for us to hear 4024 any more, so we have to take Bob's word for the positions!)

Bravo reports that the wind has picked up to 20 knots-but on the beam so he's not having much luck flying the spinnaker.  On the other hand, his most serious gear failure to date is that one of his sailing gloves has gone missing.  Solitaire has been flying a spinnaker (see his note from yesterday) but overnight got a major spinnaker wrap that will give him some work to unravel.  If he has to cut it free, he'll be down to one kite.

Very discouraging news from At Last - he's run out of ice cream (even before the halfway mark!) and has only had time to watch one video.  At least he does have enough of a surplus of raisin cookies so that he's offering to share them with passing ships.

The strangest news of the night is from Etosha - Bob woke up to find himself in the middle of Navy maneuvers - they wouldn't answer his hails on VHF, but when he sent up a white flare to get their attention, they sent a couple of helicopters over to check him out.  And Bob was hoping for an uneventful passage.
