Hi Joe,

We've never met but I want to say that you do a great job on the sss web page.  I regret that I can't see the race updates since I don't have an internet connection.  Stan Honey and Jim Corenman have done a great job though with setting up SailMail.

I will try to send you position updates and other thoughts as they come to me and I have the time.  I understand that the race committee is providing you with position reports and other info that they pick up during our twice daily radio check ins so I won't repeat any of that.

Personally, this has been a great race so far except for a few frustrating moments trying to get out the Bay on a 3.8 k flood tide.  For a while there I thought I would get swept back under the bridge by
the So Tower but Solitaire pulled through and we cleared Fort Point and made a few short tacks to Mile Rocks where we again had to fight the ebb to make it to Pt Bonita and out of the channel.

The last two days have been a windy reach (18-20k NW winds).  Today, the wind has come around to a beam reach (12-16K).  Hopefully by tomorrow I can start flying the kite and do some of the kind of sailing we all look for in doing this race.

Again thanks for everything and bye for now.

Steve
p.s. I tried sending this yesterday but couldn't get through.
Terry, Greg Morris says to call his wife, Kay, and tell her that he is ok.  Give her your number so she can get any reports.
